St. Timothy’s History
Our church was founded as a mission by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Hammond, IN. The original parishioners met in the cafeteria of Highland High School until St. Timothy’s Church was built in Griffith, IN in 1967. After some years of being partially supported as a mission church, we grew enough to become an independent, fully functioning church. We were served by several faithful priests, and over the years we have been blessed with many dedicated parishioners who have helped all of us grow into the Body of Christ. Presently we are reunited with St. Paul (Munster) as well as St. Barnabas’ (Gary), St. Christopher’s (Crown Point), St.Augustine’s (Gary) and St. Stephen’s (Hobart) in the Calumet Episcopal Ministry Partnership (CEMP).
We see ourselves as a reverent but casual congregation. Our services are all based on traditional liturgy but in a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoy worshipping together as well as sharing in various ministries together.
